Recipe: Easy Beer Bread Recipe

posted in: Recipes | 0

To many sports fans, Thanksgiving is known more for its big football games than for the turkey. Many football fanatics see the fantastic family feast as merely a prelude to the big bowl games!

If your gang is preparing for a weekend of watching these games, you may be stocking up on beer to serve your friends and family. Be sure to snag at least one can or bottle of beer to set aside to make this easy beer bread to serve with your game-day meal.

If you have been reading this blog, you may have noted that I usually offer recipes that have very few ingredients. Serving good food for your family and friends on a every-day basis or for a special occasion shouldn’t require that you studied at a culinary institute or that you spent hours in the kitchen. So I like recipes that are extremely simple without an excessive number of special ingredients–I hope you will like them, too!

This beer bread recipe only has three ingredients–flour, sugar and beer–what could be easier?

Easy Beer Bread Recipe

3 cups self-rising flour

3 tablespoons sugar

1 12-oz. beer (at room temperature)

In a mixing bowl, stir together the flour, sugar and beer. Spoon dough into a greased nine-inch loaf pan. Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for 35-40 minutes. If desired, brush the top of the loaf with melted butter during the last ten minutes of the baking. This recipe makes one loaf.

For a sweet variation, add 1/2 cup sugar, 1 cup raisins and 1 cup finely chopped nuts to the basic dough. Add 1 teaspoon cinnamon to the butter you will use to brush over the loaf.

This hearty loaf bread would taste great with turkey soup, chili, meatballs, barbeque, or stew. Add a green salad or  a platter of crunchy vegetables like baby carrots, celery sticks, cucumber slices, green and red pepper strips, broccoli or cauliflower with a tasty dip.

Now you have a simple healthy meal to enjoy while you sit down to cheer your favorite players. Go, team, go!
