Consider this simple beach tablesetting with dessert plates with seaside icons on them. Over a white tablecloth, I used purple round straw place-mats from the Christmas Tree Shop with lime green dinner plates from the dollar store. The beachy dessert plates were found at a local thrift store, and the cloth napkins are lavender. What I especially liked about the plates was the unusual color scheme. You don’t usually associate purple and lime green with beach prints–you usually think of blues, aquas and tans. But these colors were a bit different which I thought would be fun to use.
I also love stars, so of course, the star fish on these plates appealed to me. The obvious thing to use for a centerpiece was a simple bowl of seashells, with a few starfish added into the mix. Everyone can use a few stars to wish on!
Now can’t you see yourself relaxing with a glass of iced tea while looking out at the blue skies of fluffy clouds and the peaceful water?
The dessert plates can also serve as salad plates, and wouldn’t a cold green salad with juicy cherry tomatoes and crisp cucumbers taste just right with that iced tea?
Then you could have a nice cold and creamy shrimp or crab salad with some crunchy flatbread crackers–umm, umm, good. And you could end this light meal with a bowl of vanilla frozen yogurt with sliced strawberries as a topping. Then you fill your glass with more ice and tea, grab your beach book, and head out to a lounge chair with an umbrella. What could be better?
