Command Hooks 13If you have been on Pinterest or love party blogs and entertaining magazines, you have surely seen festive pennant garlands of every type hanging from party tables or on the wall behind them. You may have seen cute strands of decorative lights that border window frames or doors. You probably have seen large colorful paper medallions or paper lanterns hanging over a dining table.

And if you are like me, you are saying to yourself, “How do they make those decorations hang up there without putting holes in their walls or ceilings?”  I grew up in a home where we were not allowed to make random holes in the walls or to use tape in places where the paint would be messed up. So products that don’t cause these problems always appeal to me.

Command™brand hooks, manufactured by 3M, can be used on painted, stained or varnished wood, glass, tile, painted cinder block, plaster, metal, and painted wallboard. These hooks are made in a number of styles, colors, sizes and  hold varying weights.

Before using these hooks, which adhere to surfaces by use of removable adhesive strips, read the packaging carefully and check the Command.com website for recommendations for the greatest success.

Be certain you have chosen the appropriate hooks designed for the weight items that you want to use. They have hooks that will hold up items that weight from less than a half pound up to eight pounds.

Command™hooks are available for general, outdoor, bathroom, organizational, decorative, party, and picture and wall hanging use. They come in white, clear, green and metallic finishes and are reasonably priced. Refill adhesive strips are available so you can reuse your Command™hooks if you take them down after your initial use.

Command Hooks 4For party decorating use, I like the clear hooks best because they are unobtrusive and don’t detract from the color and prints of the decorations. Command™ party hooks and clips are made expressly for holding up banners, balloons, photos and other paper items, strings of lights, or hanging decorations from the ceiling. They even make a “buncher” that allows you to hold three balloons together to make creative wall decorations. Aha–that’s how party-givers make all those garlands and decorations stay up without marring their walls!

I have used these on my wooden fireplace mantel so I could hang a garland for a birthday party, on the edge of resin banquet tables to hang banners, and the poster strips for putting up signs. These products are great to use in rented venues, churches, schools or community centers where you have to leave the site as you found it.

Check out the Command™ website for loads of creative projects on which you can use these hooks. You will see many great ideas there to inspire your party-giving.  I found lots of ideas there that have made me want more daring in my decorating with the help of these hooks. Hope you will, too!

This recommendation is totally my own, and I have not been compensated for my opinion.
