Tablescape: Casual Wedding and Reception

posted in: Tablescapes | 0

I recently attended the wedding of my first cousin’s daughter. It was a second marriage for the bride, and she and her groom wanted to have a wedding that was easy, comfortable and very reasonably priced. They decided to have a casual wedding and reception at a local campground with a rustic event clubhouse.

The clubhouse can be opened to the outdoors on one end and has a stage platform on the back side that can also be opened to the outdoors. The large interior space has a pea gravel floor, with wooden picnic tables on each side of a wide center aisle. A kitchen space and another finished room for small group rentals with tables and chairs is at the far end of the large area. Everything is decorated in a rustic country style.NabtMante

Mantels were all around the party space on the walls. Every mantel was different and decorated with different knick-knacks.especially loved the bicycles hanging from the high ceiling. Here is the stage with its open back and airy light view of the woods surrounding the clubhouse. On the left you can see one of many picnic tables for guests. The bride created most of the decorating scheme herself. She used printables from the Internet–wedding invitations, chalkboard love quotations to line the stage signage for the drink station and more. For the rest of decorating, she used a color scheme of white and blue,  burlap, blue Mason jars, baby’s breath and simple flowers, and white candles

She framed love quotations and alternated them across the stage with Mason jars filled with candles or baby’s breath and a few simple blossoms.  She also used the same flowers on top of burlap runners on the picnic tables. She created an aisle for the wedding party to walk through in the center of the party space with picnic tables on each side for the guests. She used garden shepherd’s crooks with hanging Mason jars and flowers. On either end of the stage, she had two green wreaths with the signs “I’m his Mrs.” and “I’m her Mr.”These wreaths stood up on wreath stands in large black urns filled with ferns, They made attractive bookends for the decorations on the stage which is where the ceremony took place.The food and drink stations were set up to the right of the tables. The bed of the vintage pick-up truck was the perfect place for all plates, napkins, cups and flatware.

The bride used an inflatable drink cooler to ice the drinks. We were so glad of that since it was an extremely hot day!

The bride used several other touches that were lovely She set up a memorial table for loved ones who were not able to be at the weddingShe set up a card box and little bottles of bubbles to treat the bride and groom.

The cake table was set on the left side of the party space.The small cake on the cakestand and the decorated cupcakes on the three-tiered stands were all so cute.The cake server and knife were decorated with twine wrapped on the handles and a bow and jewel to decorate each.This was a delightful event–the bride looked lovely in her lace sheath and cowboy boots and the groom and her two sons were handsome in their matching jeans, shirts and vests. They all looked so happy and all the guests were so happy for them. The casual theme and set-up made this a very memorable wedding and reception. Hope you see some ideas that appeal to you for you!
