Tablescape: Different Takes on Same Tablesetting

If you enjoy setting an attractive table for your partner or family or yourself, you have many options of placemats, table linens, napkins, dishes, flatware, glasses and centerpieces. But even if you love the look you have chosen for your everyday dining table, you may enjoy switching out for a different one at times. So I am sharing different takes on same tablesetting to give you easy ways to do this. You begin with your choice of a placemat, dinner plate, flatware and glasses.

I used a solid navy cloth napkin, folded in half, rolled and held together with a green stone napkin ring and used it on the cream dinner plate for color.I took the same napkin and simply folded it in quarters and in half once more. I laid it on top of the plate and placed two colored glass beads from the centerpiece on top of the napkin for color and interest.

No napkin ring is needed for this look.

The next take uses the same napkin ring–I rolled the flat napkin on the diagonal, put on the napkin ring and bent the napkin in half in a V-position.

You can get the same look by rolling the napkin on the diagonal and tying a simple knot in the center, negating the need for a napkin ring.

You can also fold the napkin into quarters, fold it in half, pull it through the napkin ring and spread out the top and bottom.

You can turn the same napkin fold horizontally like a bow tie for another different look.

I used the same centerpiece for all these tablesettings, but you can change it out for different takes on your tablescape. I used blue glass beads and green sea glass on a tray with three cream-colored pillar candles of varied heights. You could change out the color and shape of the candles or switch out the colored beads on the tray for other types of table confetti.

You can also change out your glassware and flatware–different colors, shapes, textures. Change out your everyday tablesetting for variety and fun! It’s easy to be creative! Enjoy!
