Tablescape: Wine Theme Tablesetting

If you or your friends are wine enthusiasts, you might be inspired to create a wine theme tablesetting for a dinner party. Here are some ideas that you might want to adapt to your own tablescape.Because my china pattern is Fitz and Floyd’s Rondolet which has a wide gray band, I am always on the lookout for table linens that have gray in them. When I came across these wine pattern tapestry placemats at the Christmas Tree Shop, I knew they would work well with my dinner plates and would be perfect for a wine theme table. For a strong contrast, I decided to use a crisp white tablecloth under the placemats. I didn’t want the gray to be too dull on a bare wood table. The tablecloth increases the formal look to the tablesetting which is what I wanted to go with the dishes, crystal and silverware.

I used black sparkly chargers under the gray-banded dinner plates for strong contrast. Then I used silvery metallic cloth napkins held with silverplated napkin rings on top of the dinner plates.

Cristal D’Arques Versailles crystal wine glasses will hold special red wines for our dinner, and their red colors will show up well in the clear crystal and provide an accent color. My wine theme centerpiece is super-easy to put together. All you have to do is find a glass vase or compote bowl of your choice and fill it with wine bottle corks and a candle or candles of your choice. I used a white candle, but a red candle would have looked good, too, as it would work as an accent along with the red wine in the glasses.

For another wine theme centerpiece idea, you could also spray-paint three wine bottles silver, black or gray (or whatever color your tablesetting is),and then put a taper candle in each. You could use a wine cooler bucket with your wine bottles in it.Create an attractive table at which you and your guests can relax and enjoy your meal and wine! Salute your guests with a toast!
