If you are looking for a wonderful Christmas resource handbook with over 600 holiday recipes, crafts and easy-to-make gifts, check out Gooseberry Patch’s Christmas All Through the House. Gooseberry Patch publishes a yearly Christmas book, and this one is a cheery compilation of ideas and recipes from many of those.

Be sure to have a lot of page markers beside you when you look through this book because you will come across so many recipes and other ideas you will want to try. Christmas all Through the House is spiral-bound so it is very easy to look at and lay on your counter to use in cooking.

Recipes are easy to follow and usually contain a minimum of ingredients, so they are not expensive to make. The book includes appetizers, main courses, sides, salads and desserts. Gooseberry Patch uses many reader-contributed recipes, so they are family-tested comfort foods. The color photographs of many of the recipes tempt your eye and stomach.

Even menus for the 12 days of Christmas are included, as well as helpful cooking and baking hints. The book also has sections about holiday open houses, breakfasts and brunches, cookie and candy exchanges, giftable goodies and children’s cooking.

I recommend the spinach-pecan salad, the spinach and cranberries salad, turkey-cheddar-broccoli-strata, and broccoli with orange sauce, among many other recipes in the book I have used.

The colorful crafts have a county bent, but their homey look have great appeal. Patterns and directions for making them are included. Many of them are easy enough for your children or grandchildren to make. Pet gifts, home décor, baby gifts and more are included, as are homemade cards and gifts.

Ideas for food gifts are also featured. Not only are there recipes but also very interesting ways to package these gifts. Cute gift tag patterns are included. Some of my favorite recipes for the cranberry cider mix, spicy vanilla pecans, festive cranberry honey and sweet and tangy mustard. All of these are easy and ever-so-tasty.

Every time you look through Christmas All Through the House, you will find something new you didn’t see before. The cute pen-and-ink illustrations and quotations in the margins of the book are always worth a second look.
