I love the traditional colors of red and green for Christmas decorations, but I also love using unusual color schemes. If you are like me and are looking for new ways to set your holiday table, check out this pink Spode Tree table for ideas.
When my mother downsized for a move, she gave me her Spode Christmas Tree dinnerware. I was thrilled because I was the one who originally got her started on collecting this pattern. This single Christmas tree design has always been a favorite of mine. Spode’s Christmas Tree pattern is one of the world’s best known holiday designs since its introduction in 1938, and Spode continues to add new pieces each year. These dishes can easily be used with all kinds of traditional colors for a great holiday table. But I decided to go a different direction and use pink with them for a pretty formal table.
I began with a pressed cotton tablecloth as the base of the tablescape. Then I used a set of four pink acrylic chargers under four of the Christmas Tree dinner plates. I used white cloth dinner napkins with my silverware and glassware. The special touch in pink were the four Santa mugs I found in pink. instead of the expected red.
These mugs could be used to serve a special beverage before the meal, during or after. Perhaps you have a special toast to make to your family or friends.
The last touch of pink I used was my centerpiece. I used pink freesias with green pine boughs in a low vase in the center of the table. The flowers add a bit of formality and the pine pulls in the winter Christmas feel.
The effect of the pink on this table is not too feminine, just dignified and different. It’s a change from the more expected look, and it’s simple to pull off. Try to think of different ways to use your Spode Christmas Tree–you’ll find it is easy to do! Enjoy!
