Party Plan: Playlist for Wedding Dances

posted in: Party Plans | 0

The first weddings I ever attended didn’t have sit-down dinners, bands or dances. How shocking–can you believe how things have changed!

Perhaps it was because I lived in the South–weddings here were generally held in churches, and receptions were most often held in the church’s fellowship hall. They were lovely receptions with nice appetizers, punch and of course, wedding cake. Because of the church settings, alcohol was not served, although some churches did allow the participants to have a champagne toast or champagne punch.

Today weddings have become huge events with large sit-down catered dinners and bands or musicians playing for the meal or for the dance afterward. Nowadays couples and their parents often do special choreographed dances to start things off. So once the decision is made about whether there will dancing, you need to choose the songs for the typical dances–the couple, the mother and son, and the father and daughter–and then if you all want to do specially choreographed performances or just do simple dances together. If any of you feel nervous about your dancing abilities, you may want to allow yourselves time to practice or to take some lessons.

So, whether you are planning the big day for yourself or for a loved one, check out this playlist for wedding dances! You’re bound to find some songs you love!
