I have always enjoyed having a seasonal centerpiece on my kitchen table before each major holiday throughout the year. It’s a cheery sight for me each time I enter the kitchen. This black & white checked Halloween table is one of my favorites.I use black and white accessories because they go with the kitchen linens I have and a large wall poster that has black and white in it. For Halloween, my seasonal decorations are very easy to match to my black and white theme.I use black and white checked woven placemats and my Martha Stewart Bistro dishes with black and white check borders. I layered the dinner plates with Debbie Mumm Haunted House salad plates. Sometimes I use black cotton napkins or black and white checked napkins or white paper napkins when I have children to dinner. My centerpiece was quite simple to create. I have a Halloween witch wooden scarecrow I found at Michael’s several years ago. I love the bright blue, purple and orange on this week as well as the black and white checked belt and skirt trim. These colors pick up on some of the colors in the Haunted House dishes.
The black plastic cauldron came out of my Halloween stash of decorations and I filled it with fall potpourri and pinecones. The cauldron sits on top of a small grapevine wreath. I allowed several of the elongated pinecones to spill out on the center of the table, along with two small pumpkins.
You can create a similar tablescape with different items in the centerpiece. Choose items whose colors contrast well with the black and white linens. You may choose Halloween icons like bats, witches’ hats, jack-o-lanterns, haunted houses, scarecrows or ghosts. Create a tablescape that brings you Halloween holiday joy!
