Tablescape: Romantic Valentine Tablesetting

With Valentine’s Day coming up, you may be planning a special celebration for your special someone or your family. One option is to go with a formal romantic Valentine tablesetting. Check out this tablescape for ideas that you might be able to use.

I  began with a bare dining room on which I used some crisply pressed white linen placemats which I had bought to go with my good china. The placemats were edged in gray as were the matching napkins–both had red strawberries on them. My good china is Fitz and Floyd Rondolet with a gray border. I also used my Cristal D’Arques Versailles water goblets and footed compotes.

I folded the napkins on the diagonal so the strawberry applique would show and add color to the plate. To the left I placed the footed compote with its fresh strawberry and blueberries again for color as well as delicious fresh touch to the menu items.

For a centerpiece, I wanted something that picked up on the white color of the placesettings. The white wire decorative birdcage I already had has a romantic look to it, so I chose it as the basis of the centerpiece. I had some fabric stuffed hearts that I frequently use in a basket or bowl. These worked well in the birdcage, and I added a red heart wired ribbon bow to the top of the birdcage. To fill out the centerpiece, I sprinkled red paper hearts at the base of the bairdcage.

How did you arrange the blueberries? Are they on toothpicks? I like the way they are clustered.
